'Can't Believe It's Been 21 Years': Ricky Ponting Reveals The Highlight Of His Career

In the 99 World Cup final, Pakistan witnessed a horrible start after they opted to bat after winning the toss. Pakistan had no answer to Shane Warne's brilliant spin bowling and eventually got all out at 132.

New Delhi: Australian cricket team's legendary batsman Ricky Ponting, who led his national squad to two unforgettable World Cup title wins in 2003 and 2007, took to social media to reveal that Australia winning the 1999 World Cup final - their second World cup win - was the highlight of his career.

"Can't believe it's been 21 years since the 99 World Cup final, the highlight of my career to that point. It finished with me on @TomMoodyCricket's shoulders in the middle of Lord's singing the team song, an amazing experience," Ponting tweeted.

In the 99 World Cup final, Pakistan witnessed a horrible start after they opted to bat after winning the toss. Pakistan had no answer to Shane Warne's brilliant spin bowling and eventually got all out at 132.

Chasing 133, Adam Gilchrist scored 36 ball 54 to give Australia an excellent start. The final result of the game was Australia lifting their second World Cup title.

In his illustrious career, Ponting scored 27, 483 runs across formats for Australia. The veteran played 168 Tests, 375 ODIs and 17 T20Is for his national squad.

Last month, Ponting got a bit nostalgic as he took to Twitter to post a picture of his 'favourite bat'; he played with for the most time in his remarkable career.

"Five international hundreds with this baby, four of them against South Africa. The 120 and 143* were made in my 100th Test at the SCG.

"And the 164 was made in the famous 434 v 438 ODI at the Wanderers. Used it for as long as I could and as you can see it's pretty worn out," Ponting said in a tweet.
