According to the Hindu calendar, the Chaturthi Tithi of Margashirsha month begins on December 4 at 1:10 PM and ends on December 5 at 12:49 PM. On December 5, the moonrise is at 9:07 PM, making it the ideal day to observe the fast.

Special Yogas On Vinayaka Chaturthi:

Three auspicious Yogas will enhance the significance of Margashirsha Vinayaka Chaturthi:

  • Vriddhi Yoga: Active until 12:28 PM.
  • Dhruva Yoga: Begins after Vriddhi Yoga.
  • Ravi Yoga: Lasts until 5:26 PM.

Additionally, a rare Bhadraavas Yoga also aligns with this day. Performing Ganesh Puja during these Yogas is believed to bring success, prosperity, and fulfillment of desires.

Avoid Moon Sighting On Vinayaka Chaturthi:

As per traditional beliefs, sighting the moon on Vinayaka Chaturthi can lead to false accusations and dishonor. Therefore, moon viewing is strictly prohibited on this day.

Two Chaturthis In Every Month:

The Hindu calendar marks two Chaturthis each month:

Sankashti Chaturthi, observed during Krishna Paksha (waning phase of the moon).
Vinayaka Chaturthi, observed during Shukla Paksha (waxing phase of the moon).
Typically, 12-13 Vinayaka Chaturthis occur in a year and are celebrated across northern and southern India.

Puja Rituals Of Vinayaka Chaturthi:

Devotees wake up early, observe a fast, and worship Lord Ganesha with fresh flowers. In the evening, after decorating the idol, they perform rituals and read the Vinayaka Chaturthi Vrat Katha. The fast concludes after moonrise.
