When To Celebrate Diwali?

According to the Hindu Panchang, Diwali in 2024 will be observed on November 1. The Amavasya Tithi will begin at 3:52 PM on October 31 and conclude at 6:16 PM on November 1. On the day of Diwali, the auspicious Pradosh Kaal Puja will take place from 5:36 PM to 8:11 PM, making it the ideal time for worship and rituals.

Priest Ashish Puri of the Mahakal temple stated, "Diwali will be celebrated on October 31, as Amavasya begins at approximately 4:10 PM on that day and lasts until 4:45 PM the following day. We follow the Gwalior Panchang, which we rely on for all religious celebrations."

According to Pt. Ganesh Mishra, an astrologer from Jagannath Puri, Diwali should be celebrated on October 31. He explains that this date coincides with the formation of Pradosh Kaal during the Amavasya phase, making it a particularly auspicious time for the festivities​
