Ingredients

  • 0.5 Cup Sama Rice
  • 1 Piece Potato
  • 1 Piece Green Chilli
  • 1 Teaspoon Grated Ginger
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin Seeds
  • 1.5 Tablespoon Ghee or Oil
  • 2.5 Cup Water
  • Rock Salt
  • Coriander

Cooking Instructions

Step 1

Take a bowl and add sama rice in it. Wash it properly through running water 2-3 times and set it aside.

Step 2

Take a pan and heat ghee or oil in it. Add in the cumin seeds and let them splutter.

Step 3

Add grated ginger and green chillies to the pan and saute.

Step 4

Peel and chop the potatoes into cubes and add them into the pan. Saute the potatoes and wait for them to get slightly tender.

Step 5

Add the rinsed sama rice to the pan and mix well.

Step 6

Pour in the water and add rock salt.

Step 7

Cover the pan and cook it on low flame for about 15 minutes.

Step 8

Keep on stirring occasionally and add more water if required.

Step 9

Once the rice and potatoes are cooked properly, turn off the heat.

Step 10

Garnish your khichdi with chopped coriander leaves and serve it warm.
