An Indian scooter is no longer just a utilitarian tool and we are now seeing more and more premium offerings. Maxi-scooters are a new segment for the Indian market with relatively few players but now more are coming in. Hungarian brand, Keeway has been launched in India and it also counts Benelli as a sister brand due to having the same owner. We rode the Vieste 300 for a quick review. (Photo: Somnath Chatterjee)

The Vieste 300 is a big maxi-scooter with aggressive lines and the front especially looks sharp with the way the LED headlamps are being designed along with a tall windscreen. The riding position is also quite good with a nice big display which is a mix of analogue/digital.  The scooter is available in three Matte Black, Matte Blue and Matte White with good paint quality seen on our test unit. For the price, the overall quality is quite good too with the switchgear feeling robust. Features wise the Vieste 300 comes with front and rear disc brakes, telescopic shock absorbers, and Dual-Channel ABS plus heated grips though we missed Bluetooth connectivity. It has a 278cc liquid-cooled four-stroke engine that produces a maximum power output of 18.7HP at 6500 rpm and a torque of 22Nm at 6000 rpm with performance being likable and adding a sense of agility despite its weight. Under-seat storage is long but not quite deep enough though. At Rs 3.25 lakh, the Keeway Vieste 300 is expensive but packs in performance, a large fuel tank, great looks, and some comfort features while also lacking some essential ones while also not having the required storage space needed.
