Indian Artist Sets Guinness World Record For Smallest Spoon Made Of Wood
Despite being permitted to make the spoon from multiple pieces of wood, Prajapati carved the spoon from a single piece of wood with the help of a craft knife
Sashikant Prajapati from Bihar has created Guinness World Records for making the world's smallest wooden spoon. The spoon made by 25-year-old Prajapati measures 1.6 mm (0.06 in). It breaks the pervious record of 2 mm (0.07 in), set by Navratan Prajapati Murtikar, also an Indian, in 2022, reported the records keeping company.
In order to be eligible for the competition, the spoon must be a to-scale replica of a standard wooden spoon, meaning it must have a clearly evident bowl and handle, reported GWR.
Despite being permitted to make the spoon from multiple pieces of wood, Prajapati carved the spoon from a single piece of wood with the help of a craft knife and a surgical.
"Making a spoon from wood is quite easy, but making the world’s smallest wooden spoon is quite a tough job,” said Shashikant to the records keeping company.

A lot of practice went into making the spoon. In order to perfect the technique Prajapati carved over 10 iterations of the spoon before achieving the feat.
"It was very difficult to make a spoon which is smaller than 2 mm, but after many attempts I was successful," he said.
This is not the first time that Prajapati has created a Guiness World Record. The artist from Bihar has broken the record for the most chain links carved from pencil lead twice in the past – first in 2020 with a total of 126, then again in 2021 with a total of 236.
Prajapati first became interested in making micro art during his first year of college, in 2015. He began with carving pencil lead and practised for up to 10 hours every day until he mastered the craft.
“Nothing is easy in the world. If you want to gain something, then you have to work very hard," said Prajapati to GWR.
