Tripura: Campaigning Ends, Three-Way Fight Between BJP, Left And Tipra Motha On Cards. Top Points

Tripura Election 2023: The campaign for the assembly elections ended on Tuesday at 4 pm without a major disruption to law and order.

New Delhi: The high-voltage campaign for the Tripura assembly elections ended on Tuesday, said a top poll official, reported news agency PTI. On February 16, voting for the 60-member assembly will take place, and on March 2, votes will be counted. The campaign for the assembly elections ended on Tuesday at 4 pm without a major disruption to law and order. According to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Gitte Kirankumar Dinakarrao, "the poll machinery is geared up to conduct free, fair, and peaceful elections on February 16."

Here Are The Key Points:-

- The CEO stated that there will be polling in 3,328 polling booths, of which 1,100 are considered sensitive and 28 are considered critical.

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP president J P Nadda, and a dozen central ministers canvassed in support of the saffron party's candidates throughout the month-long campaign.

- To win over voters, the BJP held rallies, roadshows, and a "Vijay Sankalp Yatra."

- Sitaram Yechury, general secretary of the CPI(M), senior leaders Prakash Karat, Brinda Karat, and Mohammad Salim, as well as former CM Manik Sarkar and party state secretary Jitendra Choudhury, supported the party in their campaigns.

- AICC general secretary Ajay Kumar, Congress leaders Adhir Chowdhury and Dipa Dasmunshi, and Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra did not visit the state for campaigning.

- Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, a former royal heir, conducted all of the campaigning for his Tipra Motha party on his own.

- The Left Front and the Congress emphasized the "misrule and misgovernance" of the BJP-IPFT government, while the BJP's most prominent campaigners emphasized the development that has taken place in the northeastern state over the past five years.

- The Greater Tipraland statehood demand was emphasized by Tipra Motha, a regional political party running in 42 assembly constituencies.

- A senior police officer stated that adequate security measures have been implemented throughout the state and along the international border with Bangladesh.

- There are 259 candidates running for office, including 20 women.

- The BJP is running for 55 assembly seats, and its ally IPFT is running for six of them. In one seat, there will be a friendly fight.

- The Congress is fighting in 13 constituencies, while the CPI(M) is up for 47 seats.

- In 28 constituencies, the Trinamool Congress has put forward candidates, and there are also 58 independent candidates.

- With 12 candidates, the ruling BJP has fielded the most women.

- On February 16, a total of 28.13 lakh voters will be able to exercise their franchise.
