Nagaland: JDU Dissolves State Committee Over 'High Indiscipline', Party Extended Support To CM Rio Without Consulting

Nagaland JDU president Senchumo Lotha and lone party MLA Jwenga Seb met Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday and handed over letter of support to the NDP-BJP coalition government.

New Delhi:  The Janata Dal-United (JDU) on Wednesday said that it has dissolved its Nagaland State Committee with immediate effect after it came to know that the state party president “gave a letter of support” to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio without consulting the party's central leadership.

“The central party came to know that the Nagaland State President of our party gave a letter of support to the chief minister of Nagaland without consulting the central party, it is high indiscipline and arbitrary,” read a statement by the party.

“So, the party has dissolved the Nagaland state committee with immediate effect,” it added.

As per reports, Nagaland JDU president Senchumo Lotha and lone party MLA Jwenga Seb met Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Wednesday and handed over his letter of support to the NDP-BJP coalition government.

After gaining knowledge of the development, the top party leadership took action and dissolved the state unit with immediate effect.

As per a report by the Times of India, Lotha and Seb confirmed that they met with Chief Minister Rio at his Kohima residence and handed over their party's letter of support to him.

"We supported the Neiphiu Rio government on the basis of local issues in Nagaland," reported the newspaper quoting Lotha as saying.
