'Every Section Of Society Been Affected': Manipur Gov Says She Has Urged Centre To Resolve Ethnic Crisis In State
Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey has said that she has urged the NDA-led central government to take steps to resolve the crisis on priority.
Manipur News: Manipur Governor Anusuiya Uikey said on Sunday that she is holding continuous talks with the central government pertaining to the ethnic crisis in the state. She was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the closing ceremony of the 15-day Summer Children Theatre Workshop at the Manipur Trade and Expo Centre Relief Camp in Lamboi Khognangkhong.
During her address, Uikey highlighted concern over the situation in the northeastern state and said that she has urged the NDA-led central government to take steps to resolve the crisis on priority, according to an India Today report. The governor said that she is taking regular reports from the ground and that "tangible results will be seen in the near future," as per the report.
She also made an appeal to all stakeholders to show cooperation while the steps are being taken in the best interest of the residents of the state to resolve the crisis and ensure the restoration of peace and tranquilly.
The Manipur Governor interacted with 120 displaced children along with their guardians during the closing ceremony of the theatre workshop organised by the National School of Drama in collaboration with KHENJONGLANG and the Department of Social Welfare of Manipur, especially for children in relief camps of the Expo Centre and Temporary Shelter Home, Sajiwa Jail Complex in Imphal East.
During her interaction, she also distributed certificates for their participation in dancing and painting events during the workshop.
Speaking at the event, Uikey said, "Every section of society has been affected by the situation in the state. Most importantly, women and children have been affected, and there is a need to support them with the utmost care," as quoted by India Today.
She further stated that such initiatives would help to remove stress from children's minds, asked the theatre group to continue their efforts, and assured that she would extend assistance from Raj Bhavan for such events if required.
