Congress Files FIR Against MLA Bacchu Kadu Over Controversial 'Send Dogs To Assam' Remark

The Congress has filed an FIR against Maharashtra MLA Bacchu Kadu over his controversial 'send dogs to Assam' remark which has triggered massive outrage.

After severe backlash and several complaints over his controversial 'send dogs to Assam' remark to solve the stray dog menace, the women's wing of the Congress in Assam has now filed an FIR against Maharashtra MLA Bacchu Kadu over his remark.

The Assam Pradesh Mahila Congress filed the FIR against Omprakash Babarao Kadu, popularly known as Bacchu Kadu, an Independent MLA from the Achalpur constituency of Maharashtra. His comment about sending stray dogs from his state to Assam claiming that the people in the northeastern state consume 'dog meat' drew massive flak.

The FIR was filed at the Dispur Police Station in the state capital Guwahati by Pradesh Mahila Congress General Secretary Banashree Gogoi.

The FIR read, "Bacchu Kadu stated in Maharashtra Assembly in presence of the chairperson and other political representatives that the people of Assam used to consume dog meat and this fact is well known to him when he stayed at Guwahati. This controversial statement has come to light via social media platforms which has gone viral and led to bad remarks to me as well as the Assamese people and promoting enmity between the people.”

"Such hate speech delivered by the accused above is intentional to disturb the peace-loving Assamese people and to lower the image of the Assamese people living in different areas of India and abroad," the FIR stated.

“Being a member of the Legislative Assembly, the accused namely Bacchu Kadu has violated the provision of Article 173 (A) of the Constitution of India whereby he has violated the integrity of our nation by spreading such hate speech," the FIR added.

Speaking to ABP Live, Banashree Gogoi said, "I felt it necessary to approach the police against Bacchu Kadu as he has maligned the image of Assam before the national and international arena. Thousands of students from Assam live in different parts of the country. The comment of the Maharashtra MLA may lead to “racial segregation” between these students from Assam and people belonging to other parts of the country.”

The entire state of Assam reacted sharply to the leader of the Prahar Janshakti Party’s statement.
