Assam: Army To Host First-Ever Tech Event To Showcase Latest Indigenous Defence Technologies

The aim of the event is to facilitate the Eastern Command of the Indian Army in meeting its operational challenges by incorporating contemporary indigenous technologies, the Indian Army said.

Guwahati: The Eastern Command of the Indian Army is all set to host the first-ever mega defence show to showcase the indigenous cutting-edge technologies needed to solve the operational challenges in the eastern sector and the army as a whole. The event ‘East Tech 2023’ will be held in Guwahati on October 10 and 11.

The aim of the event is to facilitate the Eastern Command of the Indian Army in meeting its operational challenges by incorporating contemporary indigenous technologies, the Indian Army said in a press release.

“The event will strive to engage a large number of Indian manufacturers, including the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), Research and Development (R&D) organisations and Academia, to showcase their latest and the most advanced weaponry and equipment,” according to the release.

The event also aims at promoting and providing a platform to various start-ups and major players of the defence industries from Assam and other northeastern states and help them showcase their latest innovations in the defence sector.

The two-day event is being organised by the Indian Army and the Assam government.

The primary objective of the event is to acquaint the participants with the prevalent state-of-the art technologies and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions available in the defence sector, the release said.

“The event is being organised with an underlying aim to create awareness on the contemporary technologies and hardware solutions, available with the defence manufacturers in India, to meet the ever evolving operational dynamics in the Eastern Command with indigenous, innovative and future-proof technologies,” the release stated.

The event is also likely to give a much-needed push to the defence manufacturers in the northeast, thus, closely integrating them into the supply chains, the release added.

The Indian Armed Forces have also identified the technologies required to be inducted for enhancing its existing capabilities, as per the release.
