PM Modi In Greece: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi prepares to embark on his visit to Greece on Friday, members of the Indian diaspora in Athens have expressed their fervent enthusiasm by raising spirited slogans of 'Bharat Mata ki jai', 'Vande Mataram', and 'Modi ji zindabad'. Videos shared by news agency ANI on social media platform X (formerly known as Twitter) showcase the diaspora's excitement ahead of PM Modi's arrival.

In the videos, Indian community members in Athens can be seen passionately celebrating the upcoming visit. Jitender, a chef in Athens, remarked, "PM Modi is arriving here, we are all very happy. The entire Greece is very happy. He is most welcome. We congratulate him for the Chandrayaan Mission."

Daljeet Singh, who has resided in Greece for three decades, shared his delight, stating, "It felt good to know that PM Modi is coming here... It was great of him to open the corridor to Pakistan (Kartarpur Corridor)... We will welcome him with 'Bhangra'..."

Having recently concluded the 15th BRICS Summit in South Africa, Prime Minister Modi's itinerary includes a visit to Athens at the invitation of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. The visit carries historic significance, with PM Modi said, "This will be my first visit to this ancient land. I have the honour to be the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Greece after 40 years," as per an official statement from his office.

Reflecting on the enduring civilizational ties between India and Greece, Modi highlighted the extensive historical connections that have linked the two nations. He observed, "Contacts between our two civilizations stretch back over two millennia. In modern times, our ties have been strengthened by shared values of democracy, the rule of law, and pluralism. Cooperation in diverse sectors such as trade and investment, defence, and cultural and people-to-people contacts have been bringing our two countries closer."

PM Modi expressed his hopes for the visit to open a new chapter in India and Greece's multifaceted relationship, saying, "I look forward to my visit to Greece opening a new chapter in our multifaceted relationship."
