US Presidential Elections: The day has come after 2 furious debates and relentless campaigning between the US Elections 2020 presidential candidates Donald Trump and Joe Biden and their vice presidents. Amid the deadly Coronavirus pandemic, Americans will finally choose who will be the next President of the United States.
Nearly 100 million people have already cast their ballots in early voting, putting the country on course for its highest turnout in a century. Some 239 million people are eligible to vote this year. The mail-in ballots could take days or weeks to be counted in some states – meaning a winner might not be declared in the hours after polls close on Tuesday.
National polls give a firm lead to Biden, but it is a closer race in the states that could decide the outcome.
Coronavirus has at times overshadowed the election campaign, with the pandemic in the US worsening over the final weeks of the race. The country has recorded more cases and more deaths than anywhere else in the world, and fear of infection has contributed to an unprecedented surge in early and postal voting.
Donald Trump has refused to concede as the President of the country and even threatened the new president-elect of legal challenges. “We all know why Joe Biden is rushing to falsely pose as the winner, and why his media allies are trying so hard to help him: they don’t want the truth to be exposed,” Trump said, adding "The simple fact is this election is far from over.”
