Trump Says 'No' Plans To Mend Ties With Musk, Warns Of 'Very Serious Consequences' If He Funds Democrats

On being asked if he hoped to repair his relationship with Musk, Trump replied, "No," adding that he is "too busy doing other things and have no intention of speaking to him".

United States President Donald Trump on Saturday said he has no plans to mend ties with Elon Musk after a feud erupted between the two earlier this week. He also warned his former ally of "very serious consequences" if he decided to fund Democratic candidates to run against Republicans, who vote in favour of his tax-cut bill.

"If he does, he’ll have to pay the consequences for that," Trump told NBC News, without sharing what those consequences would be. "He’ll have to pay very serious consequences if he does that," he added.

On being asked if he hoped to repair the relationship, Trump replied, "No". "I’m too busy doing other things," he said, adding, "I have no intention of speaking to him." When asked if he considered his relationship with Musk had finished, Trump said: "I would assume so, yeah."

The US President further accused the tech billionaire of being "disrespectful to the office of the President." "I think it’s a very bad thing, because he’s very disrespectful. You could not disrespect the office of the President," he added, NBC News reported.

Trump-Musk Feud Continues

Trump's remarks come amid the ongoing feud with Musk, which intensified after the Tesla CEO launched an attack on the US President on X, including a now-deleted post highlighting the onetime links between Trump and Jeffrey Epstein.

The fued began with Musk’s vocal opposition to the Republican-backed tax and spending bill, a core piece of Trump’s domestic policy agenda. The legislation, which narrowly passed the House and is now under Senate review, has drawn strong criticism from Musk, who believes it adds excessive debt to an already burdened economy. Last week, Musk called Trump’s bill a “disgusting abomination."

Following this, Trump, in a televised Oval Office address, said that he was "very disappointed" after his former aide criticised his "big, beautiful" spending bill. "I’m very disappointed because Elon knew the inner workings of this bill. I’m very disappointed in Elon. I’ve helped Elon a lot," he said.

Musk hit back, launching a barrage of posts, including one which promoted the idea of Trump's impeachement, and another where he claimed his tariff agenda would cause recession in the US later this year. He also claimed that Trump could not have won the US Presidential elections without his help and support.

As the feud continued, reports also surfaced claiming that Trump may get rid of the red Tesla Model S that he bought in March after showcasing Musk's electric cars on the White House lawn.
