South Korean Woman Obsessed With True Crime Kills Person Met Through Private Tutor App 'Out Of Curiosity', Arrested
The suspect, identified as Jung Yoo-jung, 23, reportedly confessed to the killing and was indicted for murder on Friday, as per the Independent.
New Delhi: The South Korean Police arrested a 23-year-old woman for killing and dismembering another woman, the Independent reported.
According to law enforcement authorities, the accused killed the other person "out of curiosity," as the woman was obsessed with true crime TV shows and books and wanted to experience what murder felt like, South Korean outlet The Chosun Ilbo reported.
"Jung was found to have premeditated the crime driven by a desire to kill someone after she became obsessed with murder from TV programs and books," a police spokesman said, as per the report.
According to police, the suspect found her victim through an app that connects parents with private tutors and posed as the mother of a ninth-grader.
On the day of the murder, she reportedly went to meet the victim disguised as a student wearing a school uniform and fatally stabbed her, the report says.
She then dismembered the victim, placed some of her body parts in a suitcase, and took a taxi to dump the rest of it in the Nakdong River to “make it look like the victim had disappeared”, according to the police.
But the taxi driver who took her to the area got suspicious and alerted the police, who found blood-stained clothes in the bags, the report said.
“Jung was a loner and a recluse who has been unemployed since graduating from high school five years ago,” authorities said.
Police said they are conducting tests to see if Jung is a psychopath, the Independent reported citing Chosun Ilbo.
