Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Macron, Putin Hold New Telephone Talks Lasting 1 Hour 45 Minutes

The call lasted for 1 hour and 45 minutes and was held at the request of Macron, quoted AFP as a presidential official said.

New Delhi: French President Emannuel Macron held telephone talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday over Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, said Elysee, reported news agency AFP. 

The call lasted for 1 hour and 45 minutes and was held at the request of Macron, quoted AFP as a presidential official said. This was the fourth time that both the leaders held talks since the Russian invasion in Ukraine on February 24.

Macron’s telephone call on Tuesday came after a tense call on March 3 which the Elysee said had left Macron feeling “the worst is to come” in Ukraine after Putin intent on seizing “the whole” of the country. 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Sunday warned against Russian attack on the historic port of Odessa in a video message. 

"They are preparing to bomb Odessa. Odessa!" said the Ukrainian President in a video message.

"Russians have always come to Odessa. They have always felt only warmth in Odessa. Only sincerity. And now what? Bombs against Odessa? Artillery against Odessa? Missiles against Odessa?" Zelensky said further. 

Meanwhile, US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken on Sunday said that Washingtom has seen “very credible reports” that Russia has committed war crimes during its invasion of Ukraine, particularly in attacking civilians, reported AFP.
