Pakistan Fuel Price Hike: Imran Khan Attacks Shehbaz Sharif Govt, Hails India Again

While slamming the Shehbaz Sharif government for the fuel price hike, Imran Khan said "insensitive government" is not willing to pursue the deal struck by his party with Russia for cheap oil.

New Delhi: After petroleum product prices in Pakistan was increased by Rs 30 per litre Thursday, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party chief and former prime minister Imran Khan hit out at the newly elected Shehbaz Sharif government and once again praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for taking measure to check rising fuel prices in India.

While slamming the Shehbaz Sharif government for the fuel price hike, Imran Khan said "insensitive government" is not willing to pursue the deal struck by his party, when he was the prime minister, with Russia for 30 per cent cheaper oil, reported news agency ANI.

The former prime minister went on to praise India and prime Minister Narendra Modi for striking a deal with Russia for cheap oil and slashing excise duty on fuel in order to provide relief to the common man.

"Nation starting to pay the price for Imported govt's subservience before foreign masters with 20% /Rs30 per litre hike in petrol and diesel prices - the highest single price hike in our history. The incompetent & insensitive Govt has not pursued our deal with Russia for 30% cheaper oil," Imran Khan tweeted, as reported by ANI.

"In contrast, India, strategic ally of the US, has managed to reduce fuel prices by PKR 25 per litre by buying cheaper oil from Russia. Now our nation will suffer another massive dose of inflation at the hands of this cabal of crooks," the former prime minister said in another tweet.

After the Shehbaz Sharif-led government failed to reach an agreement with International Monetary Fund on an economic bailout, largely due to economic instability in the country, prices of petroleum products were raised by PKR 30 per litre on Thursday.
