What Are The Epstein Files? Musk Rekindles Row As Feud With Trump Turns Personal

Elon Musk accused Donald Trump on X of being implicated in unreleased Epstein files, alleging this is why they remain sealed.

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has reignited a long-running conspiracy theory after he linked US President Donald Trump with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein adding fuel to the feud between the two men.

In a post on X, Musk alleged that the Republican leader is featured in secret government files on rich and powerful former Epstein associates.

However, the Tesla chief has not detailed how he would have gained access to unreleased files related to the disgraced financier. He has also not provided any evidence of where his information was coming from.

"Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public," Musk posted.

"Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out," he added.

While the Trump-Musk fight was largely over policies till now, this post has now turned personal.

What Are Epstein Files?

The term refers to a collection of evidence gathered by investigators working on several criminal cases brought against Epstein and his associates.

Many of those court documents have been made public but others still remain sealed.

After returning to the White House for a second term, the Trump administration has released some Epstein files and promised to reveal more.

According to media reports, Trump and Epstein were friends for almost two decades, although,  there is no publicly available evidence suggesting the Republican leader was engaged in illegal activity with the financier.

'No Going Back From Here'

Multiple allies who were racing to broker peace between the two men describing Musk's loaded allegation as the tipping point, fearing that there was no going back after this, according to a report by CNN.

On Thursday, West Wing officials spent most of their time glued to their phones watching the fight unfold between the two men from their territories: Trump on Truth Social and Musk on X.

Several aides, who were discussing the updates on a group chat likened it to a divorce and commented that they expected this would happen, just not this soon.

“I thought maybe August,” one official told CNN.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt dubbed Musk's allegations "an unfortunate episode".

“This is an unfortunate episode from Elon, who is unhappy with the One Big Beautiful Bill because it does not include the policies he wanted. The President is focused on passing this historic piece of legislation and making our country great again,” Leavitt said, reported CNN.
