Israel Preparing For Possibility Of Lengthy War With Iran As Middle East Crisis Deepens: Report

Israel reportedly struck an Iranian nuclear facility in Isfahan, killing commanders and prompting preparations for a potentially long war. Iran confirmed damage but no casualties.

Israel said on Saturday that it was reportedly preparing for a possibly long war against Iran as its military struck an Iranian nuclear facility in Isfahan overnight, reports news agency The Associated Press. The report also mentions that the attack led to the killing of three senior commanders of Tehran.

The deputy governor for security affairs of Isfahan, Akbar Salehi, confirmed that the Israeli strikes damaged the nuclear research facility but clarified that there were no casualties.

The recent attack was the second such attack on Isfahan. The Israeli military had hit the enrichment site first in the early 24 hours of the conflict last week. Israel had said that its strikes aimed to dismantle the nuclear capabilities of Iran.

Iran reported several loud explosions for the southwestern parts as the Israeli military launched fresh strikes at the country.

Houthis Threaten To Target US Warships In Red Sea If Trump Backs Israel

Earlier, Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen threatened to resume the attacks on US vessels and the warships in the Red Sea if the US President Donald Trump-led administration joins Israel’s military against Iran.

According to news agency AP, the threat from Iran on Saturday came in a prerecorded video statement by the Houthi military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree.

"In the event of the American involvement in the attack and aggression against Iran with the Israeli enemy, the armed forces will target its ships and warships in the Red Sea," Saree said as quoted by news agency AP.

The US President Donald Trump is weighing active US military involvement in the war.
