Iran Executes Alleged Mossad Operative Over Espionage Charges

Iran has reported the execution of an individual accused of being a Mossad agent, Israel's intelligence service, according to The Guardian, citing the official Irna news agency.

Iran has executed an individual accused of being a Mossad agent, the intelligence service of Israel, The Guardian reported citing official Irna news agency. The executed person was alleged to have communicated with foreign services, specifically the Mossad, collecting classified information and providing documents to foreign services in collaboration with associates. The report did not disclose the identity of the accused or the location of the alleged information handover.

According to The Guardian, the Irna news agency said, "This person communicated with foreign services, specifically [the] Mossad, collecting classified information, and with participation with associates, provided documents to foreign services, including the Mossad".

The report did not disclose the identity of the accused but mentioned that the individual had handed classified information to a "Mossad officer" for the purpose of "propaganda for groups and organisations opposed to the Islamic Republic". The report did not specify the location of the alleged handover.

According to The Guardian report, the timing of the person's arrest remains unclear, but Irna mentioned that an appeal had been rejected. The execution occurred in a Zahedan jail in the Sistan-Baluchestan province in southeastern Iran. The execution took place a day after Baluch militants attacked a police station in the province, resulting in the death of 11 security personnel and injuries to several others.

The impoverished province of Sistan-Baluchestan, which borders Afghanistan and Pakistan, has seen frequent clashes between security forces and Sunni militants. The province's predominantly Sunni Muslim population stands in stark contrast to Iran's Shia majority.

In unrelated events, dozens of Palestinians were reported killed in Israeli air strikes in Gaza, with the US urging Israel to shift focus to Hamas officials. At least 14 people died in attacks on residences in Jabalia, while additional casualties were reported in another strike in the same area. According to the official WAFA news agency, many residents were trapped under the rubble. The Israeli military claimed its actions targeted Hamas members and infrastructure, though these reports could not be independently verified by Reuters.

Terrorists from Hamas launched a surprise cross-border raid on Israel on October 7, killing 1,200 people and kidnapping 240 others. According to Gaza health officials, Israel's response has killed approximately 19,000 Palestinians, with thousands more thought to be trapped beneath debris.
