Donald Trump's Twitter Account Is Back After Elon Musk’s Poll Sees 52% People Voting For His Return
Trump's account was suspended last year over incitement of violence at the Capitol Hill on January 6 last year.
New Delhi: Former United States president Donald Trump's Twitter account "reappeared" on the microblogging site on Saturday after Elon Musk announced lifting 22-month suspension of the account, reported news agency AFP. Trump's account was suspended over incitement of violence at the US Capitol Hill on January 6 last year. The reinstatement of Trump's account came after Twitter chief Elon Musk conducted a poll wherein votes in favour of revoking the ban won by a margin of 4%.
Slightly over 15 million Twitter users voted in the poll with 51.8% voting in favor of reinstatement.
"The people have spoken. Trump will be reinstated. Vox Populi, Vox Dei," Musk announced.

Trump Says He Won't Return To Twitter
However, Trump said that he had no interest in returning to Twitter and added that he will continue with his new platform, Truth Social — an app developed by his Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG) startup — which he said was doing "phenomenally well" and has better user engagement than Twitter, reported news agency Reuters.
"I don't see any reason for it," the former president said when asked whether he planned to return to Twitter by a panel at the Republican Jewish Coalition's annual leadership meeting, the report added.

Musk had first said in May this year that he planned to reverse the ban on Trump and had reassured users and advertisers, who were closely watching and feared the timing of Trump's return, that any such decision would be made with consideration by a content moderation council composed of people with "widely diverse viewpoints".
Earlier this month, he had also warned Twitter users of a ban for impersonation without properly mentioning that if their's is a parody account.
American comedian, Kathy Griffin's Twitter account — who changed her profile name to 'Elon Musk' which violated the new rule — was suspended from the platform but it was restored.
