Char Dham Yatra Begins On Akshay Tritiya, CM Pushkar Performs Puja At Gangotri Dham. WATCH

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami took part in the portal-opening ceremony of Gangotri and Yamunotri temples on Saturday for the devotees. He also performed the puja here as the Char Dham Yatra begins today. Earlier in the day, the CM also lifted the cap imposing restrictions on the number of devotees for the Chardham Yatra, according to an official letter from the Additional Chief Secretary on Friday. The process of online and offline registration will continue to remain the same as it helps keep track of devotees.

The Char Dham yatra begins today on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya. The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is one of the most popular Hindu pilgrimages in India. This pilgrimage is a tour of four holy sites - Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri - nestled high up in the Himalayas.
The doors of Kedarnath Dham will open on April 25 and Gangotri Dham on April 22. With the Char Dham Yatra set to start in Uttarakhand, Dr R Rajesh Kumar, secretary, of the state health department, issued a health advisory for pilgrims on Wednesday.

Preparations have been completed and the portals of the Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines were opened earlier on April 22. After the opening of the doors of Shri Kedarnath and Shri Badrinath Dham On April 25, the Chardham Yatra will formally start in Uttarakhand.
Massive preparations were done to open the portals of the Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines on Saturday, April 22, on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. The temple of Ganga and Yamuna was grandly decorated with color lacquer.
The government has also issued a guideline for the pilgrims regarding the Char Dham Yatra. At the Gangotri temple, the doors were opened at 12.35 pm after special prayers at Gangotri Dham.
