TVS Jupiter Spied With LED Headlights And More!
Called the ‘Grande Edition’, the scooter is expected to launch this festive season
TVS seems to be gearing up to launch a new variant of its popular 110cc scooter, the Jupiter, this festive season. The new variant was spotted at what looks like an R&D facility. From the images, it’s easy to make out the changes to the scooter, which include a new LED headlight, a semi-digital instrument cluster, leather seat covers and a new paint scheme.
The scooter sports a ‘Grande’ badge on the front apron. Considering the slew of features offered here, we expect it to be placed above the standard drum variant. Hence, expect features such as the reserve fuel indicator and USB charger to be carried over here as well.
However, don’t expect any changes in the powertrain department. It will continue to be powered by the same 109.7cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that powers the standard scooter. This engine produces 8PS of power and 8Nm of torque, mated to a CVT transmission. The underpinnings too are expected to remain unchanged, with telescopic forks at the front and a monoshock unit at the rear. Its 12-inch wheels get drum brakes on both ends. However, you do get a front disc brake with the ZX Disc variant.
TVS currently sells the Jupiter in four different variants - Std (Rs 51,488), ZX (Rs 54,436), ZX Disc (Rs 56,488) and the Classic Edition (Rs 57,648). The 110cc scooter rivals the Honda Activa 5G and the Yamaha Ray-ZR. Considering the extent of updates, TVS is likely to price the ‘Grande Edition’ at a premium of about Rs 3,000 over the ZX variant. Meanwhile, we expect these additional features to make their way into the standard variant by 2019.
