BJP's Tarkishore Prasad Likely To Be Bihar's New Deputy CM, Know How Saffron Party Stands To Benefit

BJP leader Tarkishore Prasad is likely to be sworn in as the Deputy CM today at the oath-taking ceremony. Know how the party will benefit from this strategy.

New Delhi: Janata Dal-United (JDU) president Nitish Kumar is all set to take oath as the Chief Minister of the state for a record fourth consecutive term today. Around 16 ministers are expected to be sworn-in along with Chief Minister-designate Nitish Kumar in the oath-taking ceremony and it is likely that BJP leader Tarkishore Prasad, will become the Deputy Chief Minister replacing  Sushil Kumar Modi. While speaking to ABP News Prasad said that 'he will try to perform the duties entrusted to him by the party with full responsibility.' According to media reports, Prasad who is the MLA from Katihar and the leader of the legislative party is being selected for the position in view of the upcoming elections in West Bengal next year. Since Katihar borders West Bengal including Prasad might help BJP to cement its presence in Bengal ALSO READ: 7 From JDU, BJP & 1 Each From VIP, HAM To Get Ministerial Berths: All Eyes On Bihar Cabinet Formation In a report by Hindustan Times political expert Naresh Kumar Srivasatava says that this may be part of BJP's 'emphatic' entry into West Bengal. The BJP seems to have made a significant mark in West Bengal with vote share zooming from 10.16% in 2016 state assembly elections to 40.25% of the votes in 2019. Apart from this with Prasad BJP also makes a mark in the Seemanchal region which has so far been a stronghold of  Lalu Prasad Yadav's Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) which despite its loss at election was the party with maximum seats  in the Grand Alliance. The oath taking ceremony would take place today between 4 and 4.30 pm. BJP leaders in Nitish Kunmar's cabinet includes Tarkishore Prasad, Renu Devi, Prem Kumar, Nitish Mishra, Nandkishore Yadav, Krishna Kumar, Vijay Sinha, Rana Randhir Singh, Pramod Kumar, Ramnarayan Mandal, Nitin Naveen, Samrat Chaudhary, and Sanjeev Chaurasia. Union Home Minister Amit Shah and BJP national president Amit Shah is most likely to attended the swearing-in ceremony. Other leaders of BJP and JDU will also grace the event.
