'Aarogyam Paramam Bhagyam': PM Modi Emphasises Importance Of Well-Being On World Health Day

On World Health Day, PM Modi shared a video and stressed the importance of health, stating that the government will continue investing in healthcare. He urged reducing cooking oil use by 10% percent.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on World Health Day, talked about the importance of health and well-being. He said that the “Government will keep focusing on healthcare and invest in different aspects of people’s well-being.”

“On World Health Day, let us reaffirm our commitment to building a healthier world. Our Government will keep focusing on healthcare and invest in different aspects of people’s well-being. Good health is the foundation of every thriving society!”

Sharing a video, the Prime Minister flagged the issue of obesity and urged people to reduce their consumption of cooking oil by 10 percent. PM Modi quoted - 'Aarogyam Paramam Bhagyam'.

PM Modi raised concern over the growing prevalence of lifestyle diseases, especially obesity, which he described as a serious health challenge. Citing a recent report, he noted that by 2050, more than 440 million Indians are projected to be affected by obesity.

“We have to cut in our cooking oil consumption. This would be a huge step in cutting obesity,” he said.

"Aarogyam Paramam Bhagyam, means, Aarogya hi param bhagya, param dhan hai (Health is the ultimate fortune, the ultimate wealth). Better health is the way to the creation of a better future. Today, our changing lifestyle is challenging for our health. Recently, there was a report on obesity which states that more than 44 crores will suffer from obesity in 2050. These numbers are scary. We have to work on that from now onwards. We have to cut in our cooking oil consumption. This would be a huge step in cutting obesity. We have to make exercise a part of our lives. Keeping yourself fit will be a huge contribution to Vikshit Bharat," PM Modi said.

These efforts have led to notable improvements in maternal and child health, broadened access to digital healthcare, and strengthened the nation’s public health infrastructure.

World Health Day, celebrated every year on April 7, highlights the significance of global health and urges collective action to tackle urgent health issues. Initiated by the WHO in 1950, the day brings together governments, organisations, and communities worldwide to focus on key health priorities and promote well-being for all.
