When Will Jewar International Airport In Noida Begin Flight Operations?

Noida International Airport is set to commence operations by April 2025, offering 60 domestic flights and international connections to Zurich, Singapore, and Dubai.

Air travellers have a reason to rejoice as the Noida International Airport (NIA) is expected to commence flight services in the first half of 2025. On December 9, 2024, an Indigo aircraft successfully landed at the airport during a test, marking a significant milestone. Following this achievement, authorities are optimistic that both domestic and international flights will be operational if all goes according to plans. If sources are to be believed, the airport could launch its first flight by April 17, 2025.

According to the NIA, the airport will initially launch 60 domestic flight services in April, with agreements already signed with airlines, such as Indigo and Akasa. Domestic routes will connect major cities like Lucknow, Ahmedabad, Varanasi, Chennai, Jaipur, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. Internationally, flights to Zurich, Singapore, and Dubai are planned, along with two dedicated cargo services.

Jewar Airport Construction Progress

The airport’s construction is nearly complete, with only the terminal building pending. After the completion of civil works, the interior decoration will begin.

The airport's architecture draws inspiration from India’s rich cultural heritage. The staircases reflect the design of Banaras’ ghats, while the roof mimics the waves of the Ganga River. Courtyards influenced by the architecture of traditional havelis, or grand Indian mansions, ensure natural ventilation, with intricately designed lattice windows adding charm to the structure.

A five-star hotel is also under construction on the airport premises to enhance passenger convenience. The interior design of the terminal will showcase Indian culture, blending tradition with modernity. Spacious and elegantly designed windows and waiting rooms with luxurious five-star amenities aim to provide an international experience for travellers.

How Jewar Airport Will Ease Travel Woes

The airport is set to ease the burden on Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport, offering a smoother travel experience. It is also expected to accelerate the development of Noida, Greater Noida, and the entire western Uttar Pradesh region by creating job opportunities and boosting economic growth.

It will also take some traffic load off Delhi roads as passengers from Noida and nearby areas can opt for flights from the Jewar airport.
