UP Election: Mamata Banerjee To Visit PM Modi's Stronghold Varanasi, Says 'Only TMC Can Challenge BJP'
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is scheduled to visit Varanasi after 'Chhath Puja'. Mamata said public confidence is growing in the TMC. Only the TMC can challenge the BJP.
UP Assembly Election 2022: TMC supremo and chief minister, Mamata Banerjee is eyeing the UP elections after her victory in the West Bengal assembly elections. Mamata Banerjee will visit PM Narendra Modi's parliamentary constituency Varanasi after Chhath Puja. Mamata Banerjee has announced her visit to Varanasi after two senior Congress leaders from UP joined the TMC.
According to a statement, Mamata Banerjee said, "People's confidence in TMC is growing. The joining of the two leaders proves that we are now a national party which can give a real challenge to the BJP."

Mamata further said that we have to move forward to fight BJP as Congress has failed to fight any battle against BJP in Uttar Pradesh for the last 15 years. Mamata said that the two UP leaders who joined TMC have invited her to visit Varanasi. She will go there after Chhath Puja.
Mamata said, "We are a national party. We can go anywhere. There is no 'Lakshman Rekha' that can stop us. The 'Laksman rekha' should be for those instigating riots, but the opposite is true in BJP-ruled Goa, Tripura, UP." Mamata said the BJP government oppresses Dalits, women, farmers in Hathras and Lakhimpur.
Two Congress leaders join TMC
In Siliguri, two senior Congress leaders Rajesh Pati Tripathi and Lalitesh Pati Tripathi joined TMC in the presence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Meanwhile, the two leaders said they will continue the fight to oust BJP from power in Uttar Pradesh and at the Centre under the leadership of TMC chief Mamata Banerjee.
Rajesh Pati Tripathi is a former legislative councilor while Lalitesh Pati Tripathi is a former vice president of Uttar Pradesh Congress and has been an MLA.
