Underworld don Dawood Ibrahim crippled by gangrene, leg may be amputated: Sources
New Delhi: Accused of 1993 Bombay serial blasts, underworld don Dawood Ibrahim’s leg may have to be amputated due to spreading gangrene.
As the infection can spread through the body and become life-threatening, doctors treating Dawood would have to amputate his legs to save his life.
Dawood has been suffering from diabetes and is under an increased risk of developing gangrene spreading through his foot. He is currently immobile.
Gangrene developed three months ago after he suffered an injury to his left foot while taking a morning walk near his upscale residence in Karachi.
His leg may be fitted with a prosthesis, or artificial limb from a hospital in Beijing, to replace the missing body part.
Four doctors from a renowned south Karachi hospital are currently treating India's most wanted gangster who is under the protection of ISI (Inter-Services Intelligence).
Dawood's deputy Chhota Shakeel, however, confirmed to newspaper Times of India that the gangster is completely"fit".
"Aapki agencies ke pass galat khabar hai. Ye sab rumours hain. Bhai bilkul fit hain. Sehatmand hain (Your agencies have wrong information. Dawood is perfectly fit)," he said.
