
Trains On Konkan Route Diverted, Cancelled As Water 'Oozes' From Goa Tunnel
As the railways tried to restore operations through the tunnel, continuous announcements were made at the affected stations. Canteens were functional to offer passengers food and water.

Trains on the Konkan Railway route were either cancelled or diverted on Wednesday owing to "water oozing out in the Pernem tunnel between Madure-Pernem section" in Goa on Wednesday.
The issue began on Tuesday when trains were halted at various locations due to waterlogging. Rail traffic was restored at 10.34 pm. According to PTI, four to five trains were halted at various stations.
However, the same issue occurred at 2.59 am on Wednesday with a higher intensity.
The Indian Railways, through an X post, informed which trains had been cancelled, partially cancelled or short-terminated. According to a bulletin issued by the Konkan Railway on Wednesday, the trains cancelled include the 10104 Mandovi Express from Margao to Mumbai, 50108 Margao-to-Sawantwadi (Maharashtra) passenger train, 22120 Margao-to-Mumbai Tejas Express, 12052 Margao-to-Mumbai Janashatabdi Express, and 10106 Sawantwadi-Diva Express.

Several trains were diverted, including the 19577 Tirunelveli-Jamnagar Express, 16336 Nagarcoil-Gandhidham Express, 12283 Ernakulum-Hazrat Nizamuddin Express, 22655 Ernakulum-Hazrat Nizamuddin Express, and 16346 Thiruvananthapuram Central-Lokmanya Tilak Express, it said.

"The trains on Konkan Railway route have been stopped at various places due to stagnation of water and seepage inside a tunnel at Pernem in North Goa," Baban Ghatge, Deputy General Manager, Konkan Railway Corporation (KRCL), had told PTI on Tuesday. He added that trains had stopped since 3 pm.
