As the sun sets, the iron gates at the border are opened and the two flags are lowered simultaneously.

The flags are folded and the ceremony ends with a retreat that involves a handshake between the soldiers from either side followed by the closing of the gates again.

Earlier, the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel presented sweets to the Pakistan Rangers at the Attari-Wagah border on the occasion of the country’s Independence Day.

The security personnel from both sides, according to officials, also shook hands with each other.
