Rajasthan Man Arrested For 'Spying' For ISI, Had Visited Pakistan Last Year

The arrested individuals were identified as Qasim, who was accused of his role in radicalising people while living in India.

A man has been arrested for allegedly 'spying' for Pakistan from the Deeg district in Rajasthan, which falls under the Mewat region, on Thursday. The arrested individuals were identified as Qasim, who was accused of his role in radicalising people while living in India.

Qasim's brother was an ISI agent who is currently absconding. Last year, Qasim went to Pakistan and stayed there for a month. During this month-long stay, he received espionage training for ISI in Pakistan.

Man Detained On Suspicion Of 'Spying' For Pakistan

In a similar incident, a man employed in the district employment office of Rajasthan was detained in Jaisalmer on suspicion of spying for Pakistan. Sources indicated that he worked as an assistant to former Congress minister Shale Mohammad.

The official said the suspect, identified as Shakur Khan, was discovered to have phone numbers linked with Pakistan stored on his device. It was also alleged that he was in contact with Pakistani people and used to share sensitive information from Jaisalmer.

An official stated that Khan was taken into custody on Wednesday night by a team from the intelligence department following security-related inputs. "There were inputs about Shakur Khan that he could be involved in spying for Pakistan. He was on surveillance following inputs and was detained last night," the official said, news agency PTI reported.

Although the police have not commented on Khan's political affiliations, sources revealed that he worked as an aide to Mohammad, a former minister in the Ashok Gehlot-led administration.

Khan underwent a joint interrogation in Jaisalmer, after which the team transported him to Jaipur for further questioning by central agencies. BJP leaders have criticized the Congress over the matter and called for a comprehensive investigation.

BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya alleged that Khan had been passing sensitive information regarding border areas to Pakistani officials. "Strong evidence has been found against Shakoor Khan, personal assistant of former Congress minister Saleh Mohammad in Rajasthan, for spying for Pakistan's ISI," he wrote on X.

He further claimed that Khan visited Pakistan multiple times without notifying the government. "Pakistan-worship is in the blood of Congress," he charged.

However, Congress gave no immediate reaction to the BJP's charge.
