PM Modi Discusses Nutrition With Students In Delhi During 8th Edition Of 'Pariksha Pe Charcha' — WATCH

This year marked the 8th edition of the initiative, 'Pariksha Pe Charcha', PM Modi discusses how to gain proper nutrition.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a discussion with schoolchildren during the annual ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’ (PPC) which was conducted on Monday (February 10). This year marked the 8th edition of the initiative, PPC, during his interaction with the children, they talked about nourishment.

PM Modi took 36 students to Delhi's Sunder Nursery and interacted with them on a host of issues related to exams and stress management.

They began the conversation with a discussion of ‘millets’ during which PM Modi spoke about how the United Nations declared 2023 as the ‘Year of Millets’, to bring the grain into the spotlight. India is the largest producer of millet and said that millet is a superfood.

The prime minister told the children that proper nutrition helps get rid of various diseases.

He asked the children who all ate millet all year round, to a student who said that his family mixes several grain flour along with wheat flour to prepare rotis.

PM Modi spoke about how with the turn of every season, the fruits that grow during that time, the fruits are offered to the gods, following which it is consumed, which is famously considered ‘prasad’. He asked the students, “If the gods need the fruits available during a season, should we be eating those same kinds of fruits since we are only humans?” to this the children all agreed.

He asked the students, what kind of food, should be eaten during this time to which they replied, “junk food, oily food”, one student said that “maid (all-purpose flour) shouldn’t be eaten because it can hike the blood sugar in a person body.”

They discussed the right time to eat food, PM Modi gave an example of how farmers would eat around 8 am and maybe have a snack during their work, but dinner would be eaten before sunset. Agreeing with this point, a student spoke about how in Jainism, the proper time to eat dinner is before 7 pm so that the food is digested properly.
