Rain, Fog, Snow, Hailstorm — Coldwave's Severe Impact On UP, Delhi, Other Northern States
Delhi is experiencing dense fog and severe cold, affecting daily life. The weather department has issued an alert for light rain on January 15 and 16, which may lower the temperature further.

North India Weather Forecast: Train and flight services in the national capital Delhi have been continuously disrupted over the past couple of weeks due to fog and cold. Moreover, the worsening AQI is making breathing difficult for Delhiites. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature may drop further in Delhi due to the western disturbance. The cold is likely to intensify in UP, Bihar, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Kashmir as well.
To make matters worse for Delhi, The national capital region and surrounding areas could get rain on January 15 and 16.

Fog And Intense Cold Wave In Uttar Pradesh
Most districts of Uttar Pradesh are in the grip of dense fog and severe cold. Normal life in major cities like Varanasi and Prayagraj has been hit by the cold. Bonfires are the only refuge for pilgrims arriving at Sangam for the holy dip during the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj.

The IMD has forecast heavy rain in many districts of the state on Wednesday and Thursday, January 15 and 16.

Hailstorm Likely In Rajasthan Districts
The minimum temperature has dropped to 4 degrees Celsius in many parts of Rajasthan. The temperature at 5:30 AM on Wednesday was 11 degrees Celsius while those in Kota and Bikaner were 9 and 10. degrees Celsius, respectively.

There is a possibility of light rain and hailstorm in Jaipur, Bikaner, and Kota divisions. The minimum temperature was also lower than normal in Punjab and Haryana on Tuesday. The impact of cold was most severe in areas like Amritsar and Moga.
Rain And Snowfall In Himachal, J&K
Heavy snowfall and rain are expected in the high-altitude areas of Himachal Pradesh from January 16-19. Light snowfall was recorded in Lahaul-Spiti and Kalpa on Tuesday. The temperature is likely to drop and the cold could increase due to rain in areas like Shimla and Kullu.
The Kashmir Valley is also in the grip of a cold wave. Light snowfall may occur in the high-altitude areas on January 15 and 16. Kashmir is currently going through the harsh period of 'chilla-e-Kalan', which is the coldest time of winter.
