Navi Mumbai: Fire Breaks Out At ONGC Plant, Two Employees Sustain Burn Injuries

As per officials, the fire which broke out at around 6:15 pm today was brought under control within half an hour.

Mumbai: A fire broke out at the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) plant at neighbouring Navi Mumbai on Thursday evening, police said.

Two employees have sustained burn injuries due to the mishap and the exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.

The injured employees have been used to nearby a hospital.

Soon after the incident, the company took to Twitter and informed that a fire near effluent treatment of ONGC Urban plant was reported which was extinguished with prompt action by ONGC and CISF.

As per officials, the fire which broke out at around 6:15 pm today was brought under control within half an hour.

Police also informed that at least seven fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the fire soon after the incident was reported.

In a similar incident, a major fire broke out at the ONGC gas processing unit in Navi Mumbai's urban area in 2019 causing the death of four people. ONGC had also witnessed fire incidents in 2019 and 2020.

In September 2020, a massive fire erupted at energy major's gas processing unit at Hazira in Gujarat which was doused after few hours without any casualties.
