After Money Laundering Probe, Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital Rocked By 'Black Magic', 'Secret Urns' Allegations

Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital has been embroiled in allegations of misuse of funds involving former trustees.

Mumbai's famous Lilavati Hospital has found itself embroiled in a controversy after the Lilavati Kirtilal Mehta Medical Trust (LKMMT) reported misuse of ₹1,500 crore by former trustees and others linked to the trust.

However, a tale in the twist came when the hospital's trustee Prashant Mehta made shocking allegations of black magic at the city's premier healthcare facility.

According to Mehta, the hospital was built by his father Kishor Mehta in 1997. Between 2002-03, he went abroad for his treatment when Prashant's younger brother Vijay Mehta took over the Lilavati Trust by forging signatures.

The family filed a complaint against Vijay Mehta in the office of the Assistant Charity Commissioner which ruled in favour of Prashant Mehta, Kishor Mehta and his wife Charu Mehta.

Scam Worth Crores Of Rupees

Prashant who currently has the hospital trust under his control said that since the trust was handed back to him, he has conducted a forensic audit. The audit has revealed that a scam worth crores of rupees has taken place at the hospital. Three separate FIRs have been filed in this regard. The first FIR is related to a scam of 12 crores, the second FIR pertains to a scam of 44 crores, and just two days ago, a third FIR was filed, accusing a misappropriation of around 1250 crores.

Prashant has also alleged that despite the hospital having a procurement department, the former trustees carried out this scam under the pretext of purchasing goods from external companies. The three FIRs have been lodged at the Bandra police station in Mumbai, and the case has been transferred to the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) for further investigation.

Black Magic

The Lilavati Hospital trustee has also alleged that the former trustees practised black magic in the cabin where Prashant used to sit. He claimed that former employees of the hospital informed him that black magic had been performed in that room. As a result, he ordered an excavation of the room, and beneath the floor, eight urns were discovered, containing human bones, hair, and various items used for black magic.

Prashant said that the excavation has been videotaped and he also ensured that an independent witness was present during the process. He said that a complaint regarding the black magic incident has also been filed by Lilavati Hospital at the Bandra police station.

The police, however, have not filed an FIR in this case so far. According to Lilavati Hospital, they had approached the court regarding the black magic matter, and the court is currently conducting its inquiry. If the court believes that an FIR should be filed, it can direct the police to register one.
