Rohit Sharma Climbs ICC ODI Rankings Following CT 2025 Win, Virat Kohli Drops Down

India's Champions Trophy 2025 victory reflected in the latest ICC ODI Rankings, with skipper Rohit Sharma climbing two spots to reclaim his place among the top batters. Updated on March 12 (Wednesday), the rankings saw Rohit surpass Virat Kohli and Heinrich Klaasen to secure the No 3 position, with Shubman Gill continuing to lead the charts.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma’s impactful 83-ball 76 in the Champions Trophy final against New Zealand has helped him climb a couple of spots to third in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings. Although he had a quiet tournament with just 104 runs in the four matches before the final, the skipper delivered when it mattered most in the title clash. Meanwhile, Kohli, who had an impressive tournament highlighted by a century against Pakistan, couldn’t make an impact in the final and was dismissed for just one run. Despite the setback, he stayed within the top five but slipped to the fifth spot in the rankings.

Pakistan’s Babar Azam held on to the second spot, while Indian opener Shubman Gill continued to lead the ICC ODI batting rankings. The top three — Gill (784), Babar (770), and Rohit (756) — are separated by just 14 rating points.

Among India's top five batters, wicket-keeper batter KL Rahul was the only one outside the top 10 in the latest ICC ODI rankings, slipping one spot to 16th. While Rahul played vital finishing roles against Australia and New Zealand in the semifinal and final, he didn’t register a significant individual score. Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer held on to his eighth position after finishing as India’s highest run-scorer in the tournament.
