Manipur Assembly Election 2017 Dates: Voting in 2 phases on March 4 and March 8; counting on March 11

New Delhi:  The Election Commission on Wednesday held a press briefing and announced dates of assembly elections which are going to take place in five states namely Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa.  The countings of all the 5 poll bound states will be done on March 11. The Manipur Legislative Assembly election, 2017 will be held to elect the 60 members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly, as the term of current Legislative Assembly ends on 18 March 2017. Here is the schedule of assembly elections to Manipur as announced by the ECI a while ago. The election will be held in two phases in the state with 60 constituencies. Phase 1:
  • The date of polling in Manipur is March 4, 2017.
  • The date of notification is February 8.
  • The last date for making nominations is February 15.
  • The completion of scrutiny of nominations will be on February 16.
  • The last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 18.
Phase 2:
  • The date of polling in Manipur is March 8, 2017.
  • The date of notification is February 11.
  • The last date for making nominations is February 18.
  • The completion of scrutiny of nominations will be on February 20.
  • The last date for withdrawal of candidature is February 22.
In the last election, held in 2012, the Congress won 42 seats and Incumbent Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh was re-elected. (With inputs from Wikipedia)
