Lalu Yadav's party RJD compared the structure of the new Parliament building with a coffin in a controversial tweet, BJP said their MPs should never enter into the new building.

Amid ongoing controversy over the inauguration of the new Parliament Building, the opposition has intensified its attack. Now, Lalu Yadav's Rashtriya Janta Dal (RJD) has made a controversial tweet where the party has compared the structure of the new Parliament building with a coffin. The party said "What's this?" in the caption. This comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the new parliament Building and also installed the historic 'Sengol' near Lok Sabha Speaker's chair.

Elaborating on the tweet, party leader Shakti Singh Yadav said, "The coffin in our tweet is a representation of democracy being buried. The country will not accept this. Parliament is the temple of democracy and it is the place to have discussions."

The BJP retweeted the post and said, "First picture is your future (coffin) and the second is India's future (New Parliament). Understood?"

BJP's Sushil Modi slammed the RJD for the tweet and said, "A case of treason should be registered against such people who have compared the new Parliament building with a coffin."

BJP leader Dushyant Gautam said that the tweet was 'unfortunate', adding "Today they are comparing it with a coffin, were they comparing the old Parliament with 'zero'? We were earlier sitting in zero".

Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar Janta Dal United (JDU) said that a history of 'disgrace' is being written with the inauguration of the new building.

The Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) reacted sharply to the developments and said that if the new Parliament has no value for the opposition, then their leaders should never step inside the House and resign right away.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated the new Parliament building and dedicated it to the nation. Lok Sabha speaker Om Birla accompanied the Prime Minister during the ceremony that began with Puja. After Puja, the PM and LS speaker Birla entered the new Lok Sabha where PM Modi installed the historic 'Sengol' near Speaker's chair. later, the Prime Minister unveiled the plaque to mark the inauguration of the new Parliament building.

After inaugurating the new parliament building, the Prime Minister honoured and felicitated workers who were involved in the construction of the new Parliament building.

PM Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, Union ministers and Chief Ministers of different States attended a multi-faith prayer meeting.

With this, the first phase of the new Parliament building inauguration has concluded while the second phase will begin at 12 pm. PM Modi has left the premises and will join other leaders when the second phase begins.

The move for the Prime Minister to inaugurate the new Parliament building has been criticised by nearly 20 opposition parties such as the Congress, Left, TMC, SP, and AAP who have chosen not to attend the inauguration ceremony.
