Kerala ‘Hit-and-Run’ Turns Out To Be Planned Murder; Two Arrested In Kottayam

The victim, 35-year-old Neethu, was fatally struck by a vehicle on the morning of May 6 while walking to her workplace.

What was initially believed to be a hit-and-run accident in Kerala’s Kottayam district has now been confirmed as a premeditated murder. Karukachal police have arrested two individuals, including a close friend of the victim, in connection with the incident.

Police Find It To Be A Premeditated Murder

The victim, 35-year-old Neethu, was fatally struck by a vehicle on the morning of May 6 while walking to her workplace. Locals found her unconscious at the scene and rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries, as reported by The Hindu. The case was initially registered as a road accident.

However, further investigation by the police revealed that the incident was far from accidental. CCTV footage from the area captured the moment of impact, indicating that the vehicle had deliberately veered towards the victim. The driver did not attempt to stop or help, raising suspicions.

Police have now arrested Ansahd Kabir (37), identified as a close acquaintance of the deceased, and Ujas Abdulsalam (35), who is alleged to have been involved in the planning of the crime, reported On Manorama. Investigators stated that both men had conspired to carry out the murder and are currently in custody.

Neethu, who had been living separately in Karukachal following her marriage to a man from Kanjirappally, is believed to have known the accused. The motive behind the murder is still under investigation, with police working to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the crime.
