Funeral Of Three Malayalis, Including Children, Killed In Oman Road Accident To Be Held Today
The victims, hailing from Kozhikode and Kannur, were on their way to Mecca for Umrah when their journey was cut short by the fatal crash.

The final rites of three Malayalis, including two children, who lost their lives in a tragic road accident on the Saudi-Oman border, will be held on Wednesday in Al-Hassa. The victims, hailing from Kozhikode and Kannur, were on their way to Mecca for Umrah when their journey was cut short by the fatal crash.
The Tragic Accident
The accident occurred on Sunday morning at the Batha border crossing when the vehicle carrying the victims struck a road divider and overturned, as per a report on Manorama. The deceased have been identified as Sahla (30), wife of Risala Study Circle (RSC) Oman national secretary Shihab Kappad from Kozhikode; their daughter Alia (7); and Dakhwan (6), son of RSC leader Misab Koothuparamba from Kannur.
Both children died on the spot, while Sahla succumbed to her injuries at a hospital in Al-Hassa. The fathers, Shihab and Misab, who were in the front seats, survived with minor injuries but remain deeply shaken by the tragedy.
Injured Family Members Under Treatment
Misab’s wife, Hafeena, and their other children sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical care at King Fahd Hospital in Hofuf, Saudi Arabia. The family had begun their journey from Muscat after Friday's Iftar, making a brief stop in Ibri before continuing towards Mecca, reported Asianet News.
The victims were actively involved in the Indian Cultural Forum (ICF), a diaspora organisation affiliated with the SSF in Kerala. ICF Al-Hassa Central Committee leaders Sharif Saqafi and Abu Tahir Kuntur are coordinating legal procedures and providing support to the grieving families.
The Malayali community in Oman and Saudi Arabia is mourning the devastating loss, as preparations for the funeral take place on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Umrah is an Islamic pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, which holds great spiritual significance for Muslims.
