Delhi Riots: AAP Suspends Tahir Hussain After FIR Filed Against Him For Murder Of IB Staffer

The AAP councillor has been accused in the murder case of Intelligence Bureau (IB) staffer Ankit Sharma, whose body was recovered from a drain in northeast Delhi's Chand Bagh area earlier in the day.

New Delhi: Hours after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that no rioter, irrespective of their party, involved in the violence should be spared, an FIR was logged against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) councillor Tahir Hussain on Thursday evening. According to reports, Tahir has been slapped with Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code hours after a complaint was filed against him at Dayalpur Police Station. Meanwhile, AAP has suspended Tahir after the FIR was slapped against him. "Councillor Tahir Hussain, who has been accused of violence in Delhi, has been suspended from the party till completion of investigation against him," AAP tweeted from its official Twitter handle in Hindi. The AAP councillor has been accused in the murder case of Intelligence Bureau (IB) staffer Ankit Sharma, whose body was recovered from a drain in northeast Delhi's Chand Bagh area earlier in the day. Tahir has also been booked under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) in connection with arson and inciting violence in the national capital. Tahir, however, denied any involvement in the riots or the killing of an Intelligence Bureau staffer whose family accused him of being behind the murder, saying these are 'baseless accusations'. He called for an impartial probe into the incident and said action should be taken against the guilty.
