Schools In Delhi To Reopen For Classes 9-12 From Feb 7, For Nursery To Standard 8 From Feb 14

Delhi's deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said on Friday that schools in Delhi for 9th-12th standard students will reopen from February 7.

New Delhi: Delhi's deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said on Friday that schools in Delhi for 9th-12th standard students will reopen from February 7 while for nursery to 8th standard students, they will reopen from February 14, news agency ANI reported. 

The ANI report said that online classes for students will continue.

Sisodia made the announcement while addressing a press conference after the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) review meeting. 

Sisodia, who is also Delhi Education Minister, said that hybrid classes will continue, according to the ANI report.

He requested colleges to encourage offline classes. 

Quoting Sisodia, the ANI report said that colleges will reopen from Monday, February 7, and they will be asked to discourage online classes and have offline classes.

The Delhi Education Minister also announced that all restaurants can remain open till 11 pm now onwards.

Sisodia further said that all government and private offices have been permitted to function at 100 per cent capacity. He added that gyms and swimming pools have also been permitted to be reopened.

Delhi reported as many as 2,668 fresh Covid-19 cases during the last 24 hours. The positivity rate declined to 4.3 per cent.

Lieutenant Governor Anil Baikal had recently decided to lift the weekend curfew and the odd-even system for shops.

The shops and establishments in markets, market complexes, and malls, which deal with non-essential goods and services, shall be allowed to remain open between 10 am and 8 pm IST. The restriction of odd-even is not applicable in this case.
