'Extremely Shameful': DCW Chief Swati Maliwal Vows Action Against Those Abusing Shubman Gill's Sister

DCW chief Swati Maliwal said that action will be taken against those trolling Shubhman Gill's sister on social media.

Delhi Commission of Women chief Swati Maliwal on Monday slammed trolls abusing cricketer Shubhman Gill’s sister on social media after the batter’s ton guided Gujarat Titans to a victory over Royal Challengers Bangalore in the Indian Premier League. The DCW chief said that action will be taken against those trolling the cricketer’s sister.

“Extremely shameful to see trollers abusing #ShubhmanGill’s sister just because the team they follow lost a match. Previously we had initiated action against people abusing #ViratKohli daughter. DCW will take action against all those who have abused Gill’s sister as well. This shall not be tolerated!,” Maliwal tweeted.

Shubman Gill reaffirmed his status as Virat Kohli's heir apparent with a magnificent hundred as Gujarat Titans knocked Royal Challengers Bangalore out of the IPL with a six-wicket win, allowing Rohit Sharma's Mumbai Indians to sneak through as the fourth team in the play-offs.

Gill scored an unbeaten 104 off 52 balls that saw Titans chase down the target with elan.

Earlier this year in January, Maliwal had lodged a complaint against trolls abusing daughters of MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli. On the basis of her complaint, the Delhi Police had registered a case against unknown people over indecent comments targeted at Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma's daughter Vamika Kohli as well as Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Sakshi Singh's daughter Ziva Singh Dhoni.

She took notice of the vulgar comments that were made on social media against Vamika Kohli and Ziva Singh Dhoni and filed the complaint after which the Delhi Police sent a notice to Twitter asking for the details of those accounts that made those indecent comments.

She also posted screenshots of the tweet and commanded an investigation against the offenders. Maliwal also emphasised that people may or may not like a player but saying 'nasty things' about their daughters is totally unjustified.
