Produced by Maddock Films, Chhaava raked in ₹45 crore net in India on its ninth day, according to film industry tracker Sacnilk. The film’s box office performance has been further strengthened by being declared tax-free in Madhya Pradesh and Goa.
With this latest addition, the movie’s week 1 earnings now stand at a whopping ₹287.75 crore net. On February 22, it recorded an overall 56.09 percent occupancy in Hindi across theatres.
PM Modi’s Praise for Chhaava
While speaking at the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan in Delhi, PM Modi lauded the historical epic, stating, "Ye Maharashtra aur Mumbai hi hai jisne Marathi filmon ke saath-saath, Hindi cinema ko ye unchai di hai. Aur in dino toh, Chhaava ki dhoom machi hui hai."

Worldwide Box Office Performance
On the global front, Chhaava has amassed ₹338.75 crore during its first eight days in theatres, as reported by Sacnilk. The movie's overseas collections contributed ₹48 crore gross, while its India gross stands at ₹290.75 crore.
Trade Analyst's Take
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, who rated the movie 4.5 stars, highlighted its strong performance, sharing on X:
"After a phenomenal first week, #Chhaava storms into Week 2 with a bang... Biz on [second] Friday is higher than [first] Thursday - highlighting its extraordinary hold."
He added, "Chhaava has consistently delivered ₹ 20 cr+ on weekdays throughout Week 1 [Monday to Thursday], and with ₹ 20 cr+ on its second Friday, it's crystal clear that the film will not stop at ₹ 400 cr... ₹ 500 cr now seems certain."
Chhaava Controversy
Chhaava found itself in controversy after the release of its trailer, particularly over a dance sequence featuring Vicky Kaushal as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj performing a Lezim dance with Rashmika Mandanna, who plays Maharani Yesubai.
Addressing the backlash, director Laxman Utekar assured audiences that the final cut of the historic film will not include Sambhaji Maharaj performing the Lezim dance with his wife.
