Covid-19: India Logs 760 Fresh Cases, Active Caseload Stands At 4,423

Covid-19 India: The new fatalities, one each from Kerala and Karnataka, were reported in a span of 24 hours.

Covid 19 India: India saw a single-day rise of 760 fresh cases of Covid while two more people succumbed to the viral disease, news agency PTI reported, citing health ministry data on Thursday. The number of active cases of the infection has been recorded at 4,423, it further stated. According to ministry's data, the new fatalities, one each from Kerala and Karnataka, were reported in a span of 24 hours.

On Wednesday, the country had reported 602 new Covid cases and five deaths were reported.

Meanwhile, a 63-year-old woman, who had tested positive for Covid, succumbed to the virus during treatment at SGPGIMS, as reported by news agency IANS. The woman died on Wednesday, marking the first Covid-related death among patients in the state this year.

Dr. Manoj Agrawal, chief medical officer (CMO) of Lucknow, shared details of the patient’s medical condition, stating, “The patient was suffering from acute kidney injury (stage 3) along with hypertension, diabetes mellitus, morbid obesity, severe sepsis, type-2 respiratory failure, and Covid pneumonia,” as quoted by IANS. She had been receiving treatment at PGI since December 31, 2023, and died on January 2.
