Congress Finished As It Misused Central Agencies, BJP Will Meet Similar Fate: Akhilesh Yadav At Kolkata

Akhilesh Yadav also spoke on the strike by power men in the state saying that the saffron party promised to fulfil their demand before polls but not accepting now

New Delhi: Gearing up for 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Sunday asserted the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party would be politically finished in the days to come “just like the Congress”, for “misusing” central agencies against the opposition parties.

"Earlier, the Congress used to misuse the central agencies, and now the BJP is doing the same. Congress is now finished. The BJP, too, will meet a similar fate,” he told a press conference in Kolkata.

He also highlighted the issue of caste census which he said would be a major topic in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

The SP supremo claimed that the Congress during the UPA-2 regime had promised to conduct a caste census, but later “backtracked”. "We want the BJP-led central government to conduct the caste census. Several leaders have been demanding it. But like the Congress, the saffron party is also not keen on conducting it," Yadav said.

When asked what would be the formula of the proposed opposition front ahead of the general elections, Yadav said it won't be disclosed.

"We won't reveal the formula of the opposition front; the goal is to defeat the BJP," he said.

The former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister also spoke on the strike by power men in the state saying that the saffron party promised to fulfil their demand before polls but not accepting now which has created an electricity crisis in the state.

“Will police run the power stations, look after substations and distribution. If it can’t correct the law and order situation in the state, how can it rectify this situation?” he said.

He said that the state of Uttar Pradesh which gave the country its Prime Minister has “the most  unemployment, inflation and injustice.”
