China, India Achieve 'Progress' In Further Disengagement Talks During 4th Corps Commander-Level Meeting: Beijing

As the de-escalation process to douse the simmering tensions between India and China along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in the Ladakh sector continues, Beijing came out with a positive statement on Wednesday, stating that the fourth commander-level talks between Indian and Chinese militaries achieved notable progress in further aiding disengagement between troops at the border and easing situation at the western sector. Giving out a statement on the 4th round of commander-level talks between the Corps Commanders of the two armies that lasted spanned nearly 15 hours, Chinese Foreign Minister spokesperson Hua Chunying said, "The two sides achieved progress in further disengagement between border troops and easing situation at the western sector of China-India boundary. Conveying a strong message to Beijing, the Indian delegation apprised the Chinese PLA about the "red lines" and sent a “very clear” message to the neighbouring country that status quo ante must be restored in eastern Ladakh, sources said. The nuclear-powered Asian neighbours which were entangled in a bitter border standoff at multiple locations along the Eastern Ladakh since May 5, agreed to begin phase two of the disengagement in the next few days.
