CBSE Board Exam Update: Class 10th Pending Exams Cancelled; Only Those Papers Affected Due To Delhi Riots To Be Conducted

The Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) secretary Anurag Tripathi has said that the pending exams of class 10th will not be conducted in the country except in Northeast Delhi and that the results may take at least two and a half months.

New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education(CBSE) secretary Anurag Tripathi has said that the pending exams of class 10th  will not be conducted in the country except in Northeast Delhi and that the results may take at least two and a half months. Due to the nationwide lockdown for the coronavirus pandemic, the board exams could not be completed according to schedule. Tripathi said that only those exams that were cancelled due to the riots in Northeast Delhi which took place in February will be conducted. In the rest of country class 10th grades for the students will based on an average of internal assessments and other parameters. In the case of 12th board examinations out of the 12 remaining subjects’ exams will be conducted only for important subjects across the country although the decision will be finalised after the lockdown will be lifted.  Tripathi also said that evaluation of the answer sheets will begin when the current situation of the pandemic in the country becomes better. According to the CBSE, it will take at least two and a half months to evaluate the answer sheets and only after that will the results be declared. Tripathi also added that the planned steps are dependent on the status of the lockdown. The minister also said that the information was announced through a circular issued on April 1st. “All over the world educational institutes have been affected by the lockdown. At this point, I request students, parents, and guardians to not panic and be patient. Stay at home and continue with self-study under the guidance of teachers. As the consequences of this period will be similar all over the world. If our results are delayed it will be the same in other parts of the world too,” Tripathi told  ABP News. Watch ABP News' Exclusive Talk With Anurag Tripathi:  Yesterday, the HRD minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank had directed the CBSE to facilitate the evaluation of answer sheets in different states in a meeting with education ministers of all states. As the cases of coronavirus in India continue to increase, yesterday the Delhi Education Minister Manish Sisodia had also suggested promoting the Class 10 and 12 students on the basis of their internal exam performance. The report by IANS said that the minister suggested during a video conference hosted by Union HRD Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' with state Education Ministers. He also suggested a 30 percent reduction in the entire syllabus next year.
