STF Arrested Brother, Contract Killer For The Bengal Congress Councillor's Murder

Earlier on Saturday, STF nabbed the politician's brother as well as a contract killer who was paid to carry out the killing, according to a senior officer.

SIT investigators identified them based on information supplied by Kandu's arrested nephew, the accused brother's kid.

Five persons have been detained in connection with the March 13 shooting death of Kandu, a councillor in Jhalda Municipality.

"The murder was an act of personal vengeance. There has been a dispute between the two brothers. Three to four years back, the arrested brother had attempted to kill Tapan Kandu but failed," the IPS officer informed PTI.

According to the brother, his fury escalated after his son, a Trinamool Congress politician, lost the municipal election against Kandu.

According to him, the "contract murderer" is a Bihar resident who was solicited on behalf of the brother by the guy apprehended by the SIT from Giridih on Friday.
