BSF, Punjab Police Seize 29 Kg Heroin. 2 Pakistani Nationals Held Along IB In Punjab's Ferozepur
Border Security Force and Punjab Police seized 29 Kg of heroin and arrested two Pakistan nationals.
In a joint operation, the Border Security Force and the Punjab Police apprehended two Pakistani smugglers from along the international border in Ferozepur and seized 29 kilograms of heroin from them on Monday. One of the smugglers suffered a bullet injury after Border Security Force (BSF) personnel opened fire at them sensing threat, an official said.
The BSF official said that they had noticed the movement of the Pakistani smugglers around 2:45 am on Monday, as reported by news agency PTI. The official further added that the BSF and the Punjab Police were conducting a joint operation on the banks of the Sutlej river near Gatti Matar village on the intervening night of Sunday and Monday.

The official stated that the smugglers were carrying 26 packets (29.26 kilograms) of heroin. The injured has been hospitalised, he is being treated for a gun shot wound in his hand.
Last week on Saturday, five people including a woman were arrested after recovering seven grams of heroin from their possession recently in Shimla city, a top police official said on Saturday. After the arrests, Police have booked them under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act. The arrests were made two days ago.
Speaking to ANI, Shimla Superintendent of Police, Sanjeev Kumar Gandhi, said, "Around two days back, an incident took place...Some people were in a car including a woman who swallowed drugs from a polythene and had water right after that, while we were intercepting the car".
"It was important to investigate the matter so we followed the medical procedures and took her to hospital. Around seven grams of heroin was recovered...We are investigating the matter. It is an organised crime...We've arrested four boys, a total of five in this matter," he said. The official further informed as many as 510 people have been arrested in possession of drugs and over 330 cases have been registered in the past seven months.
